Riad & Riad Advises on the First Light Railway Transit (LRT) in Egypt

Riad & Riad is having the honor and the pleasure to be part of this strategic project by advising the consortium of China Railway Engineering Corporation (CREC) and AVIC International Holding Corporation (CREC-AVIC Consortium) as the EPC contractor.

The USD 1.24 billion project introduces the first Light Railway Transit (LRT) in Egypt. The project will connect the New Administrative Capital with various cities in Cairo, including Obour, Shorouk, Badr, Mostakbal, 10th of Ramadan, Al Salam cities with the capacity of transporting around 1 million passengers daily.

According to a statement by CREC, the 10th of Ramadan LRT is described as “an exemplary project of China-Egypt cooperation, and is a major transportation project for Egypt to implement the strategy of developing its eastern part and to build the eastern economic corridor.“

Throughout the last three years and going on, R&R team has been providing the Consortium with myriad of services in various legal areas including advising on project agreements, taxes, customs, labor and employment, social insurance and dispute resolution.
