Egyptian Government Invites Bidders for Seawater Desalination PPP Project
The Egyptian Government, represented in the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone), has invited interested companies to submit prequalification applications to qualify for the design, financing, construction, operation, maintenance, and eventual transfer of ownership of a seawater desalination project under a long-term water purchase agreement.
The initial plant capacity is 250,000 m³/day, with the potential for future expansion to 1,000,000 m³/day, serving private sector entities within the SCZone.
The project will be awarded through an international competitive bidding process open to qualified applicants. Applicants may apply as individual legal entities or as part of a consortium.
The project has been developed with technical assistance from the PPP Central Unit and the Ministry of Finance, with support from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
